Presenter: |
Mr. Peter Nixon CA (Canada), MSc (UK), FCPA (Hong Kong) Negotiator, Mediator Managing Director, Potential Dialogue |
|
Abstract |
The
Potential Dialogue Workshop focuses on our declining dialogue skills (as
compared to our increasing email, internet and mobile phone skills), the
implications of the gap between the skill shortage and the need f
or enhanced
dialogue in our increasingly complex world, and practical ways to enhance
dialogue skills, spaces and systems at work, at home and in society. Each time
this workshop runs it addresses the needs of the audience and as such every
workshop is different. Workshop requests have varied from improving sales and
service on key accounts to addressing political tensions in Pakistan and Tibet,
responding to rapid social change in the Gulf and in Church, mobilizing
corporate interest in environmental sustainability and social justice, and
mediating commercial conflicts. Peter’s work in this area is the subject of a
forthcoming book entitled Dialogue Gap and is
based upon Nash’s Nobel winning theory of Governing Dynamics which suggests
that the optimal outcome is derived when people do what’s best for them and the
other party. Optimal outcomes can only be achieved through dialogue.

Biography |
Peter
Nixon, CA, FCPA, MSc. specializes in helping organ
izations (and individuals) fulfill
their potential by ensuring the right people talk about the right issues in the
right way and at the right time and place. Peter specializes in the
facilitation, negotiation and implementation of change through dialogue. His
international success arises from his belief that "The Solution is in the
Dialogue" and his rare combination of financial skills (honed as an
auditor for many years with one of the worlds' largest accounting firms) and
communication skills (honed as a trainer and consultant with
people from over
55 countries). Peter's dialogue solutions fall into three main areas: 1) get
focused (facilitation), 2) get it right (negotiation) and 3) get it done
(implementation). In addition to his dialogue work Peter also provides sales
and consultant training to professional firms and private banks. He is founder
of The Potential Network (launch planned for Q1, 2006) aiming to provide
sourcing and contracting services to companies wishing to hire objectively
rated independent consultants.
